sing and play music
are two of those
great gifts.

What I have tried to do with my music is present a Christ - centered
message in a country song that sounds like traditional mainstream
country music, and has the message of hope woven into its core. Folks
can take it or leave it. Not every song talks about salvation or the
great commission. Most of my songs are about life - but from a
perspective that always tries to point in the direction of the cross. I
have written some songs that will please die hard country gospel
listeners, and others that would reach those who just like good ole’
honest country tunes.
My goal is to reach those listeners that are fans of country music,
(which in the area where I live and where I grew up, is about 90% of the
population), and reach those who may not ever go looking for God in a
church or through church music. My songs are for the common country good
ole’ boy - that’s me, and that’s who I want to reach with my music.
In a nutshell, my kind of country music is the kind where your wife
doesn’t leave you, your dog doesn’t run off, and the bank won’t come
along and repossess your truck!

I truly believe that anything good in our lives is from God - and my
abilities to sing and play music are two of those great gifts. I have
had no formal training in singing, guitar or songwriting, and can’t read
music at all. Songwriting for me, is just putting down what’s in my
heart on paper, and then finding the right music to fit the "heart" of
the song. I’ve written many songs - the best ones are God - inspired.
There is a lot of great music out there, and most folks that go to
church are familiar with Christian music, whether it is country, rock
and roll, or alternative. Christian music is great - and it blesses a
lot of people, but it often only reaches people who already go to Church
and know the truth of the gospel. Where I live, and where I grew up,
there were a lot of really great people I met that would very seldom
darken the doorway of a church, and would never think of listening to
music that was labeled Christian.
